IT’S EARLY IN THE MORNING …SHOCK!
Who can’t relate? A quick look in the mirror after waking up in the morning… and suddenly our good mood vanishes into thin air. The mirror reflection often confronts us with bitter truths: puffy eyelids and dark circles under the eyes. Such is our frustration that not even the best concealer can work miracles. This is a complete no-go when it comes to overall radiance and charisma. This is because it often makes us look tired and gives our complexion a pale and often sickly appearance. Yet what are the causes of the puffiness and dark circles? To begin with, the skin around the eyes is extremely thin and sensitive, therefore it’s always best to be careful when searching for a treatment method. For example, rubbing and plucking can often lead to irritating the sensitive skin surrounding the area, which can then lead to undesirable redness.
WHAT DO SALT AND ALCOHOL HAVE IN COMMON ?
Apart from the fact that we enjoy having well-seasoned, savoury dishes in the evening along with a glass or two of wine, there is another thing these two consumables have in common – removing fluids from the body and disrupting the lymphatic system. This leads to a build-up of lymph fluid which positions itself under the eyes and voila! Hello, puffy eyes. Add a little bit of sleep deprivation and you are in trouble, as now you have to add swollen eyelids and dark circles to the list. However, swollen eyelids and dark shadows can also be caused by crying, allergies or perhaps even an infection. The latter of which would need to be diagnosed by a Doctor.
hOW CAN I PREVENT THE WORST ?
In order to starve off some of the swelling, we must be reminded of the importance of drinking plenty of water throughout the day. The phrase “little drinking, little water retention” is simply not true. In fact, without water, the body cannot properly cleanse itself of toxins and other waste products as the lymphatic system cannot be sufficiently flushed out. Hence our tip – one or two large glasses of water before going to bed. Furthermore, sleeping with an additional pillow has been proven to be very useful, that’s because sleeping horizontally causes ergo fluids to accumulate in the eye area overnight and the lymph flow more poorly. For optimal circulation, we recommend a small stone-pine pillow, which not only smells wonderful but also has a soothing and relaxing effect that aids in better quality sleep.
GIVE ME SOME SOS TIPS, PLEASE !
Don’t panic! There are certainly some other tips and tricks to help you with your eye discomfort.
Here’s one of Grandmother’s old tricks: place a cold teaspoon on the affected eye area – this can be either on top of closed eyes or directly under them. This withholds the swelling as the cold from the spoon constricts the blood vessels and thus reduces inflammation. Alternatively, you can try picking up a genuine jade or rose quartz roller, a popular tool that first originated from traditional Chinese medicine. These stones are said to possess a healing and calming effect, whilst also being very cooling. As an added bonus they also make for a great massaging tool!
A GAME-CHANGER FROM CHIARO ZURICH !
Yes, you read that right – GAME-CHANGER. That’s because our solution for puffy and tired eyes has it all. The secret is our Pure Infusion biocellulose eye pads that have been soaked in a highly effective ingredient complex, which aims to make the area around the eyes look fresh and lively again. Let’s take a closer look at the science behind them.
CAFFEINE – improves the microcirculation of the skin and constricts the blood vessels around the eye. Puffiness and dark shadows are effectively reduced, as are fine lines and wrinkles.
ALPEN-EDELWEISS – stimulates blood circulation.
HYALURONIC ACID – fills in fine lines that are the result of dry and tired skin.
EYESERYL SOLUTION – an innovative active ingredient specially designed for your eye care routine by effectively counteracting puffiness and eye bags. It is made up of tetrapeptides that also promise to reduce dark circles. Lastly, it even has a moisturizing effect that can help the skin to regain the elasticity it loses with age.
BEAUTIFEYE – Simultaneously stimulates the detoxification process of the skin and increases the blood flow of the thin capillaries around the eye, therefore having a decongestant effect.
CHAMOMILE – calms, moisturizes and acts as an anti-inflammatory.
“By far the best on-the-go eyemask for me. Not only does it feel silky smooth on my skin, it also visibly smoothens, tightens, and plumps the under eye-area. I absolutely recommend this product!”(Tobias O.)
Application: Ensure the area under the eye has been cleaned and dried. Tear open the packaging and remove the protective film from both sides of the pads. Place a pad under each eye for approximately 15 minutes. Afterwards, remove the pads and slowly rub in the remaining essence using your fingers.
